The CSU, which manages table bookings in the space, was told that the decision was made because of concerns about “congestion” and “traffic flow”. However, neither issue had previously been raised with the CSU. More importantly, the administration made this decision without consulting the students and organizations who regularly use the space. The Hall Building Mezzanine has been one of the only common gathering spaces on the downtown campus even before the Sir George Williams University joined with Loyola College to become Concordia. In unilaterally making this decision, Concordia is restricting our freedom of expression on our campus. The administration is once again taking away student spaces and devaluing our university experience.
